Those of you that know me know that I listen to music at every waking moment. I have a consistent streak of around 4,000 minutes (just under 67 hours) of music listened every week that has been going on for god knows how long. When someone listens to that much music you’re bound to notice things other than the noise. Which is why today I’m showing you some of my favorite album covers!!!

Filth – SWANS

Violent, visceral, dirty. Ever-evolving SWANS have been plaguing the public since the 80s. I absolutely love their early years which are filled with this harsh noise. The cover for their first studio release really encapsulates it incredibly. From the grundgy and misaligned letters, to the image of a grayscaled set of teeth. I recommend this band to anyone interested in the Avante-garde as their albums evolve from experimental to gothic to atmospheric.
Self-titled – The Smiths

The Smiths sneak into everyone’s music listening path one way or another. Nonetheless, their self-titled album still holds true years later. Filled to the brim with raw emotion, some call whining, accompanied by bone-chilling guitar riffs this album is an indie classic. Listen at your own risk of going through a second emo phase. And the cover is a fair warning of that! A brooding and harrowing purple stretches its shadow over the entire sleeve. A young man with his head down and hair covering his face; shirtless and wearing his heart on his sleeve. The subtle color shift for the bands logo sneakily put in the corner, as to not take away from the moment between the viewer and the art. Beautiful!!!
Heaven Knows – PinkPantheress

Maybe out of left field? To the surprise of many this is a no-skip album for me. PinkPantheress does everything right on this masterpiece. Especially those ad-libs (yeah!). This album is a more polished version of her previous releases, but keeps the same vibe of: goth-esque, poetic, introspection. The cover tantalizes the viewer with hints of this. The singer draped in white with a dove hovering over her. Signals of purity, or maybe death. Darkness envelopes them, the only light source being red and coming from a far doorway, out of reach but inviting. These topics arise in the lyrics and there’s a playfulness in how she sings about them. But to answer the question brewing around in your head: yes, I even like the Ice Spice remix.
